How to participate in the Move to Learn May Wellness Challenge
May is Wellness Month for Move to Learn! Students who participate in the Move to Learn Wellness Challenge can complete an orienteering course at their school!
Students will fill out a daily wellness journal aiming to complete any 10 days in the month of May. They can write or draw their daily movement, screen time, and meals.
The minimum daily recommendations are:
- 60 'moving minutes'
- Less than two hours of screen time
- Three balanced meals
However, students are encouraged to create their own goals that are best suited to them individually, and to gradually improve toward the minimum recommendations or better.
All students who participate in the Wellness Challenge are invited to take part in an orienteering course at their school in June. Orienteering is an outdoor adventure activity in which participants navigate a terrain by foot using a map. BC Orienteering has offered to map a course on each participating school's grounds. The map will contain various check points that students will need to find, with the goal of finding as many check points as possible in a set amount of time using a simple map. They can participate in pairs or small groups. At the start of the course, students will learn how to read a map. The event will take approximately one hour.

If you are interested in signing up, please complete the webform below or contact your designated school Movement Ambassador. We will provide each teacher with wellness journals for their class as well as movement activities in the classroom resources. BC Orienteering will also provide fun gym activities that can be used to prepare students for the course.
