Congratulations to our 2020 Athlete & Coach Grant recipients! We are pleased to announce some fantastic news during a time where it may be hard to come by. We have been able to award the following deserving athletes with grants:

  • Claudia Laos-Loo – Karate
  • Izzak Kelly – Rugby
  • Alex Brent – Sprint Kayak
  • Maggie Coles-Lyster – Track and Road Cycling
  • Isabel Taylor – Whitewater Slalom
  • Jusleen Virk – Karate
  • Mattias Frohloff – Diving
  • Cassidy MacPherson – Kayak

With an outstanding number of applicants this year, it made our decision very tough. We would love to be able to provide every athlete with a grant to help with their sport related expenses, but unfortunately, this is just not possible. The athletes above are being awarded these grants because of their involvement with PacificSport and the Canadian Sport Institute, their contributions to the sport community, and their high financial need. We are impressed by their achievements in sport and their commitment to giving back to their sport. All of these athletes are committed to improving their performance both physically and through sport education, proving themselves as well-rounded athletes. Even with putting so many hours into their sport, they all still manage to find time to volunteer with their sports organizations, commit to helping coach other athletes, and are role models on their teams and in their communities. It is our absolute pleasure to offer these athletes just a little bit of assistance with their sport journey and we hope that PacificSport Fraser Valley can continue to support them in any way we can.

We are also happy to announce that we have awarded three coaches with grants:

  • Tessa Nagai – Canoe/Kayak
  • Allison McMillan – Softball
  • Gurjot Kooner – Wrestling

We had many deserving coaches apply for a grant this year. The coaches above are being awarded a 2020 grant based on their financial need and their commitment to developing professionally as a coach. We are impressed by their initiative and dedication to improving their coaching skills and the time they are committing to enhance their athletes’ performances. These coaches are continuing to take courses, attend workshops, and implement their learning into their coaching practices. They are not stagnant and want to keep progressing their coaching to ensure their athletes are receiving the best training possible. It is clear that these coaches go above and beyond for their athletes. PacificSport Fraser Valley is grateful to be able to award these coaches with a grant and to continue to support them in their coaching journey.
