Terry Becker – Chair
After becoming a competitive curler during high school and advancing to the provincial level, Terry became aware of PacificSport and its high performance services for athletes and coaches. As a PacificSport alumni, she views her involvement with the board as her way of giving back to an organization that once helped her, and continues to assist other regional athletes pursing their goals. Currently, Terry is a paralegal/legal administrator at the law offices of Becker & Company in Pitt Meadows where she oversees everything from marketing and human resources to information technology.
Grant Rawstron – Vice Chair
Growing up, Grant was an active rugby, cricket and squash player. With kayaking being his favourite sport, Grant became involved with PacificSport to support canoeing athletes in their development. He wanted to ensure that athletes in the community were accessing opportunities for supporting their aspirations and development. In addition to PacificSport, Grant volunteers with Canoe Racing BC as the Board Chair, Fort Langley Canoe Club as a Spring Kayaking representative, and Fort Langley Legacy Foundation as their Treasurer. A graduate of the University of Otago, New Zealand in Dentistry, Grant has owned and operated a dental practice in Fort Langley for 35 years.
Rick Irving – Treasurer
Rick Irving, CPA, CA grew up in Port Coquitlam playing baseball, hockey and tennis and moved to Abbotsford in 1981 where he took up racquetball and squash. He is a believer in youth sport and sport in general watching his two children in their sports of fast-pitch, soccer and Tae Kwon Do. He has volunteered with Operation Red Nose from 2002 to present and is currently chairman of the volunteer steering committee. Rick became a director of PacificSport Fraser Valley in 2013 and took on the role of treasurer in 2014. Rick has an accounting practice in Abbotsford and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia
Shonnett Allen – Secretary
Shonnett became involved with PacificSport to give back to an organization that assisted her children. She also appreciates all the hard work, values and programming that is offered through PacificSport, and feels she can learn more about the sports process by being actively involved. Once an avid fan of her sons’ soccer careers, Shonnett currently enjoys watching them kayak. Previously, she has helped organize kayak events and volunteered with the Scouting movement for ten years. In addition to running a Home Care Assistance business, she is a Supervisor at local schools and is actively involved in her church as a Youth Pastor and counselor to the Pastor.
Lorie Bowie – Director at Large
Passionate towards enhancing access to sport participation opportunities and building physical literacy, Lori has been involved in promoting active living, fitness and sport for over 25 years. Currently working as an area manager with the City of Surrey’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, Lori provides leadership to the city’s sport, fitness and healthy communities initiatives along with managing recreation centres and services in Cloverdale. In addition, she is a registered kinesiologist, one of the founding members of the Fraser Valley Water Ski Club, an active level 2 tournament judge and a past BC record holder in women’s trick skiing. Her thesis work as a result of her Master of Arts degree in Health Promotion and Health Education explored the benefits of applying a community health promotion model to recreation service delivery.
Lisa Craig – Director at Large
As the recent recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award through five years of volunteering with Operation Red Nose, Lisa has taken on a new role as Venue Manager for this annual fundraiser. She became a PacificSport board member because of her passion to contribute through volunteerism and fundraising. Lisa joyfully raised four children who were actively involved in sports all the way throughout their teenage years, and continues to be actively involved in her children’s lives. At the moment, Lisa is currently the Finance Manager with PrairieCoast Equipment Inc. and has worked in the Abbotsford location for over fifteen years.
Kerry Young – Director at Large
